Every recipe, as a paced lesson

Paste a link to a recipe page. Tongs turns it into one step per screen, with a timer on every wait and the prep folded in where it fits. On your phone, your iPad and your Mac, with no app store in between.

How it works

  1. 1
Paste a link. Any recipe page, or a photo of a cookbook page. Tongs reads the ingredients and steps and keeps a copy, so the recipe is yours even if the page goes away.
  2. 2
Cook one step at a time. Each step gets its own screen with the ingredients it uses and a cue for what done looks like. Every wait gets a timer and a Meanwhile list sized to fit it: mince the garlic while the onions soften.
  3. 3
Change the servings. Every amount rescales, down to kitchen fractions, in the ingredients and in the directions.
  4. 4
Keep it in the kitchen. Install Tongs on your Home Screen or Dock. It opens full screen, stays awake while you cook, rings when a timer ends even with the screen locked, and works through bad Wi‑Fi.
